Cookies

This page explains what cookies are, what this site actually sets, and how your Accept or Reject choice is remembered. It should be read with the privacy notice.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a site asks your browser to store. Some are needed for a page to work. Others help a publisher count visits. Local storage is a related mechanism: a value kept in the browser without being sent on every request. This site uses local storage for the consent choice described below.

What we use

We distinguish essential records from analytics.

Essential. The site is a set of static pages. We do not set an essential cookie in order for you to read an assessment brief, send the contact form, or refuse optional cookies. The contact form posts to a static JSON file on this domain; that post does not plant a tracking cookie.

Consent preference (local storage, essential to remembering your choice). When you press Accept or Reject on the banner, the browser stores systemcanvaspoint_cookie_consent with the value accepted or rejected. That record is not a cookie. It stays on your device so the banner does not return on every page load. Rejecting optional cookies does not block reading, navigation, or the contact form.

Analytics. We do not currently set analytics cookies. If that changes, this table will name them before they run, and they will run only after Accept. A Reject choice will keep them off.

Fonts are requested from Google Fonts when a page loads. That request may allow Google to see your IP address and the font files you need. It is a third-party connection. It is not a cookie we set, and refusing optional cookies on our banner does not by itself stop the font request. You can block third-party requests in the browser if you wish; the layout will still work with the fallback serif fonts listed in our stylesheet.

Photographs load from Unsplash. That is another third-party connection. Unsplash may receive the image request. We do not place an Unsplash cookie from our banner.

How to manage or disable cookies

Use the banner’s Reject button to refuse optional cookies. Use Accept if you are willing to allow them should we add any. You can clear this site’s data in your browser settings (often under “cookies and site data” or “local storage”) to wipe the stored preference; the banner will appear again.

Most browsers also let you block cookies entirely, delete them per site, or use a private window. The steps differ by browser; look for cookies, tracking, or site data in the settings menu.

Third-party cookies

We do not embed social posts, payment widgets, or a live chat that would set third-party cookies from this domain. Third parties named above (font and image hosts) operate under their own notices. We do not control their cookies.

If you disable cookies and storage

You will still be able to read the site and send a note through the contact form. You may see the consent banner again on a later visit if the preference cannot be stored. Optional analytics, if we ever add them, will not run after Reject.
